We will be continuing to use the Saxon Math curriculum. Because the 3rd Grade teachers are most excellent, the kiddos typically come into 4th grade ready to fly through the first few chapters-- so we expect to go through the 4th Grade book at a good pace and into the 5th grade book. This page will provide links for practicing and keep you all in the loop about what we are learning.

Some good math words we have learned:
century = 100 years
decade = 10 years
chronological order = in order from start to finish/current time
prime number = a number that can only be reached by multiplying the number by 1 -- for example, 11 cannot be reached by multiplying any two whole numbers except 11x1, so it is a prime number
composite number = a number that can be reached by multiplying more than just that number x1 -- for example, 6 can be reached with 2x3, so it is a composite number
numerator = the top number in a fraction, such as the 2 in 2/3
denominator = the bottom number in a fraction, such as the 3 in 2/3
mixed number = a whole number with a fraction, such as 1 2/3 (one and two-thirds)
improper fraction = a fraction with a larger number on the top (numerator) than on the bottom (denominator), such as 7/4
ordinal number = a number that shows placement, such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd...
cardinal number = a regular number, not showing order such as 1, 2, 3...
